Hey. When will the 8X drives come out? How easy is it to make backup copys of the DVD's u own? Is it simple as CDR's?
 
Thanks. I've been looking at DVD burners and the Amazon $50 gift card but hadn't seen their price drop on this burner.

As far as I have heard the TDK is a NEC 1300A. What I like about this deal is 1) retail packaging (=warranty); 2) Amazon has been great for me in the past with any returns; 3) the extra $50 if I find another $70 to buy in electronics; and 4) no tax and free shipping.

There are already 2-3 drives shipping with 8x DVD+R writing speeds. The problem with most of them though is that there isn't any 8x DVD+R media. Of course, the Plextor PX-708A can write to 4x DVD+R media at 8x, so that isn't a problem.

Going back to the TDK... the 440N is a nice drive for the price. It's what I'm using right now.

 
That's a GREAT price. I have two of these already. If you get it, you may need to flash it with version 1.08 if it doesn't have it already. See DVDRHelp.com for the sight to get the update.
 
This is so tempting. I have been waiting to upgrade my video card but may forgo that for a dual-format DVD-RW. 😀
 
The Liteon retail dual format is $139 shipped at newegg now. It's the 440D and may be a rebadged Sony. Beige only for now.

any ideas on how u could tell it was a rebadged sony? or if you read it somewhere a link of some sort?? cuz if its rebadged sony, then 139 is a steal!!!!!!
