hi,

my other thread regarding burn and verify errors with a brandnew Liteon 55246S with Nero 5.0 and Nero 6:
Here !

Now people tell me TDK has outsourced their CD-R production (in other words: TDK CD-Rs are cr*p !)...and Nero also tells me the 'brand' of the 'TDK" CD-Rs i bought actually is 'CMC magnetics'... so far regarding TDK...

What experience do you have with the TDK CD-Rs ?

What other brands do you use ? Memorex ? Maxell ? Sony ?

I am just sick of burning one coaster after the other.....

Greetings

The general consensus on the forums is to get any CDs that are TY (Taiyo Yuden). You can tell if they're TY by looking on the wrapping and finding "Made in Japan". Some TDKs are TY while others aren't. The same holds true for Memorex. Most Fujis are TY...so try to get those if you can.

Looking at the previous thread, I'm not sure if the media is the problem. Could the files that you're burning be corrupt or the CDRW be defective? Hope this helps...

yeah,

i heard that with the TY too. I'll definetly look into that and might grab some FUJI made in Japan next time...

Btw. i just burned two CDs at 16x and both were fine......i will monitor that, but as it looks 16x gives the best results. (As someone else also suggested)

thanks !

I've burned a few new TDK 48x CDRs and they worked just fine on an old 12/10/32x TDK VeloCD and a 48x one from TDK. I agree that maybe something is defective or corrupt for them to be turning into coasters. I typically buy Memorex CDR spindles from BestBuy and they never let me down.

I generally use Maxell CDs and I've never burnt a coaster with them yet on my Yamaha F1. Unfortunately, since they are the older 650MB/74min/8x CDs, they only burn at 8x using Nero 5x. I bought some Princo discs rated at 48x, but those only burn at 16x. For the hell of it, I bought a 10 pack of Verbatim Super Azzo 48x discs (mainly so I could try out the DiscT@2 feature on "Yamaha Recommended Media") and they burn at my drive's maximum speed of 44x. Just my $0.02.
