Hey All,
Just got in on the TDK 24X deal at BB...
THis dirve has smartburn and the insides are supposedly made by Liteon
It has the latest TDK firmware, but according to CDClone, it does not support SD2 Copies
the latest Liteon firmware DOES support SD2

Has anyone successfully updated the firmware on a TDK 24X AI241040B to a Liteon 24X???

thx

I've been hearing about this lately. Depending on what your drive supports should be the one you get. They've made a big mess of this issue, and how to distinguish between the two. I would contact LiteOn for a definate answer.

Hey I also have sitting here model number (from my TDK) AI-CDRW241040B, does this indicate I have a LiteOn or is it something else?

It doesn't burn as nicely as my real LiteOn, so I'm considering exchanging it for another in hope of getting model LTR-CDRW241040B. But I'm not sure TDK's will really rebag the same model number. Anyone help?

I have one of these drives from the BB deal a month ago, and starting going on the blink yesterday. I have model #CDRW241040B. It has completely stopped correctly writing to some 80 min blanks. Ironically, it stopped working with the TDK Certified Plus 80 min blanks. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Nero. Didn't work. Though it still works with TDK 74 min blanks, and certain 80 min blanks (Mitsui, Prime Peripherals).

Specifically, the burn process starts writing the first music track and stalls. Stopping the burn doesn't help and the drive remains in write mode. I can't restart the system without physically hitting the power button. Wondering what is wrong with this burner.

Thankfully, I tried exchanging this drive, but they were out of 24x TDK drives and didn't want to give me a 32x drive. So, they gave me an option of choosing a similar drive, I chose a 24x Plextor. Working flawlessly so far.
