TDI prices. What the heck?

First couple years had some issues that needed to be hammered out. After that they were pretty nice little cars (for the time).

And the fact that $4K will get you a Focus that might not have 250K miles on it, which with Honda, Toyota more often the case..

Because TDI fanbois are some of the most intense out there. I'm not surprised $4k barely buys a 10 year old one. I think it's an awful use of money.

Around here you get late-90s, early-2000s Hondas for $4k. Craigslist is crawling with them. Maybe people are just much more into Hondas in your area.
Even still, that's horrendous as well. This is why my last two cars were new, previously only bought used. It's gotten utterly out of hand; the used car market is demanding far too much for cars now. It makes sense often to just buy new.

I see locally a lot of 2001 accords for $6k+, one person wants almost $10k because it's got low miles.
