TCP/IP stack hosed?

Won't pull DHCP address. Manual configure gives ability to ping gateway, but nothing more and random extended ASCII characters replace pinged address. Have reloaded card driver. How do I force reload of TCP/IP files? SP2 did not help, actually made worse.

Very unlikely that an XP TCP/IP stack is messed up. However, if so, you can reinstall them from the OEM cd that you did your install from.
TCP/IP stack corruption was rampant on 95/98 because every TCP/IP connection ran off of one stack...but XP runs off of individual stacks...Try reinstalling the connection and see what happens.

Actually turned out to be WinSock error (some virus?). Geek Squad CD had quick fix that utilized NetSh command as outlined in MSKB article referenced by Jack's link, but various Antivirus sites list manual fixes.
