TCP/IP Lan with 2 WinME PCs. Easy?

I've been struggling with TCP/IP on a simple 2 PC lan. Am almost certain the setup is correct but getting no results. A quick, knowledgeable walk-through would be appreciated.

What type of setup are you trying to do? Internet Connection Sharing, or do you have a hub/ router?

Assuming that all you want to do is hook 2 machines together, with no hub/switch and no internet, you need 2 functioning NICs and a crossover cable.

However, since you've made it to the forums here, I assume that you want to share an internet connection between the two. In that case, check out FiringSquad's excellent set of guides, specifically the ICS, LAN, and Windows Networking Guides.

I also do not recommend using a crossover cable as it has killed 2 of the 4 NICs I've used it on.

No internet sharing. I'm using a hub and trying to get these crates to talk using tcp/ip. No good reason other than curiosity. NetBEUI and IPX are there, just can't work the other. Thanks.
