TCL/Roku TV Casting Abilities?

I'm looking to purchase a TCL TV from Costco due to the insanely cheap price and amazing reviews.

TCL 49" 49S403 is $349
TCL 43" 43S303 is $279

This TV will go into my den along with my consoles and PC. I have a Vizio E70 with built in Chromecast and absolutely love it. I can cast virtually anything wireless with minimal effort, however the 50in version of what I want (Vizio) is quite a bit more than the TVs I linked above.

Anyone who uses Chromecast knows how simple it is, I have never used Roku and honestly have no idea how it works. I simply want to cast whatever is on my computer screen to the TV wirelessly, or cast from my phone (youtube/twitch etc) to the TV. Is this possible? I have an iPhone, no Droid devices.

I appreciate it.

The Roku app for iOS says "Cast videos, photos, and music to your TV using Play on Roku". I haven't tried it yet, but I'll give it a shot on my P605 tonight. (It should be the same since the Roku TV OS features are likely not that different.)

I gave it a try, and I don't see any way to cast like you would with Chromecast. Now, there are some ways that you can send it for certain apps. You can tie the Roku TV YouTube app to the YouTube app on your phone, but it still requires you to open the YouTube app on the TV first. In other words, if you just want to quickly throw something to your TV, it won't happen. If you're really dead set on saving the money, you could just buy a Chromecast and attach it to the back. It'll never be as clean of a solution since you'll likely still have to select the Chromecast's input first, but it's better than what the TV can do right now.

I ran into the same exact problem.
