I have no real-world experience with either, but I was heavily leaning toward getting VX memory and did quite a bit of reading on the subject.

VX memory allows you (with sufficient vdimm, at least 3.4 volts) to run at 2225 timings at FSBs of 250 MHz and higher. TCCD won't achieve that combination of low timimgs and high FSB.

However, there's a question about whether running memory at such high vdimm can shorten CPU life. I have enough doubts now that I'll probably just go with TCCD.

Edit: I should also mention that running VX at high vdimm generates quite a lot of heat, which can create stability problems. Active cooling (a fan blowing directly on the memory) can help, but it just seems like another reason to avoid the issue altogether.

THe OCZ vx value is overpirced. There are other brands that carry Winbond UTT chip PC3200s that are comparably priced to value memory.

TwinMOS from newegg is one, I got a gig for less than $120 after shipping and tax.

There is a thread in Hot Deals on Fry's/Outpost selling Mushkin memory with UTTs for $63 or so for a stick of 512.

The answer though depends on two things:
1) What FSB speed are you planning on running
2) How much voltage can your motherboard provide to the RAM

If the FSB is high, UTT won't make it. It tops out in the 250+10 or so range, even with lots of voltage.
If you can't provide 3.0-3.5 volts to it, then UTT will NOT perform well. You'll be lucky to get 2-2-2 at even 200 MHz with only the 2.8-2.9 volts that most motherboards are capable of providing by default.

my board have selection of ddr 400,500,533 and auto.

i am running p4 2.8c@3.5 ocz pc4000 on this board.

With those capabilities, I would think the Winbond UTT to be the best fit. Your FSB is 250, and you should be able to reach that or very close with UTT, your latency will be better than with TCCD, and it's cheaper.

Not ALL the UTT can reach those speeds. If you need guaranteed 250 MHz RAM speed, the real OCZ VX PC4000 is your only option, however based on the information in this thread:

http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?t=154258&page=1&pp=20

People are having pretty good success getting there.

That thread is huge, and full of good information on UTT memory, grab a tasty beverage and give it a read through.
