My 1ghz blue core Tbird wont do over 1.1ghz. It stalls booting at 1.15ghz. Im running it at 1.85v (although VIA MBM says 1.92v) with an Alpha PAL 6035. Im using the standard Alpha theremal grease (havent ordered ASilver yet). Im getting an rc5 temp of 111F/43C. I penciled in the L1s and it is currently running at 110x10 instead of 100x11. Its very stable now, but i really expected 1.2ghz. BTW sys temp is 73F/23C on an ABIT KT7-RAID. Additionally the 112mhz causes graphics glitches, so its unusable.

Any ideas why it wont go higher?

Dont feel bad, I bought a 1ghz (blue core) TBIRD off of someone that guaranteed it @1.2ghz, not steve btw, and it wont go past 1.1ghz without croaking. Exact same setup as the guy I bought it from, except I have to run it at 1.87volts just to get it stable at 1.1ghz.

300w PS
If I clock it at 1.2ghz it reboots all by itself before windows loads or it causes vxd or someother type of error/corruption. Lovely!

How did you get yours to 1.87 volts? I've got my tbird 1ghz@1.2ghz pretty easily. It's stable as hell too..I believe it's a week 48, I bought it off some no-name pricewatch company too..how lucky is that?

The KT7, setting my KT7-Raid at 1.800volts is actually 1.87, 1.775 is actually 1.85 and so on. Just look at your hardware monitor. What board are you using?

What does closing the L7 bridges do to increase stability that the motherboard voltage selection doesn't?

I knocked agp down and put the i/o at 3.5 and the mem speed down. I may tinker a little more but im pretty convinced its just a bad cpu.

It's not a bad cpu....you paid for 1G and you got 1.1G. Anything over 1G is luck. Tbirds don't o/c as well as Durons. Overclocking is never guaranteed.
