hi

I got an old Abit KT7A ver 1.3 mobo with athlon tbird 1333 mhz runs on it, i'm planing to upgrade my processors to Athlon XP, maybe to 2100+. The problem is that finding a Palomino is quite difficult nowadays, so i'm thinking about the Tbred version for my upgrade. So it leads to another problem, palomino and tbred have different architecture. Can the tbred be installed to a KT133A system ?

any kind of help will be much appreciated

Hardware wise, yes. The bus interface hasn't changed, and power consumption of the XPs up to 2400+ isn't any higher than that of an Athlon 1400 either. However first and above all your board's BIOS needs to support the CPU model you're going to put in. Check that first.

Link to Workarounds article for discussion of various issues/problems resetting Multipliers of newer Tbreds in earlier mobos....and the various workarounds.

I found this which should be useful.:)

KT7A / KT7A-RAID v1.3 supports:
AMD SocketA Athlon (100 / 133MHz FSB) up to 1.4GHz.
AMD SocketA Duron (100 MHz FSB) up to 1.3GHz.
AMD SocketA AthlonXP Palomino (0.18 micron process) up to 2100+.
AMD SocketA AthlonXP Thoroughbred (0.13 micron process) up to 2000+.
