Recentley, I aqquired an Athlon xp 2000+ now, i was wondeirng weather it was based on the palminio or the tbred? How do i tell, and what is the o/c range for these?many thanks! Oh, one las thing, does anyone know of some good o/c boards for socket 474?

Looking at the die:

if it looks square - then it's a Palomino, OC won't be very high.
if it looks rectangle - then it's a Thouroughbred, OC will be higher.

is the die a perfect square or is it rectangular? if its a square, its a pally, otherwise its a t-bred.

socket 462? 🙂

if its a pally, then its not worth overclocking, if its a t-bred then the DFI Infinity and Abit NF7 are generally considered the best overclockers for the socket A platform.

edit: heh, beat me to the punch

totally depends, i'd say shoot for at least 2ghz but there is never a guarentee with OCing, of course. many t-breds if properly cooled and given some voltage will hit 2.5ghz, but don't go into this with high hopes.
