Tbred and Memory Speed Question

Hi Folks, I am thinking about getting a Tbred 1700 or 2100 with a new Nfroce 2 ultra 400 mobo (the ultra 400 just for future upgradability)

Anyways, I currently have like 5 sticks of PC2100 DDR ram (crucial brand) will I be able to do any overclocking with this ram, or would I need like PC3200 or PC3500 to overclock? I guess what i'm really asking, is can I change the multiplier to a higher number, but leave the fsb the same? I don't want to shell out extra money on ram right now.

depending on your board, you should be able to access the higher multipliers and use your pc2100 ram for now..

but... if i were you... i'd save money by getting the 1700+ and with the left over money + a little extra, invest in a decent stick of pc3200

i agree with shimmishim, get the 1700+ as it can do 2-2.3 pretty easily, then invest some $ in pc 3200 /pc3500 ram, thats what i did and im at 1950 right now, just need to get my w/c set up
