T'Bred A (UK) or T'Bred B (from US)

Im looking towards getting a newer CPU to replace my 1800+ Palomino.

I have been reading all the success stories with T'Bred 1600+'s and the like and I want one :)

However, I havent seen much stuff comparing T'Bred B o/c'ing to T'Bred A o/c'ing. After a quick search I can pick up this from the UK. 1800+ T'Bred A according to Overclockers.

This looks sweet, confirmed stock and is relatively cheap.

I was wondering how a T'Bred B 1800+ compares to the T'Bred A in terms of o/c'ing and heat produced. If at all possible, can someone get me a short list of US Vendors that supply T'Bred B's and will ship to the UK?

Thanks in Advance

I read over at HardOCP that T-Bred A's are no longer produced. All T-Breds now are B's, but that there are still a lot of A's in the dealer channels not yet sold. I think they also listed the two part numbers for A and B versions. Also 1600+'s are not T-Breds. The T-Bred version started at 1700+ speed.

Basically sums it up. But there were a few 1600+ Tbreds produced (not anywhere NEAR the number of Tbreds produced normally for a chip) that are just floating out there. Someone sold a few of them on these forums like a month or two back.

But yes, you will not see these Tbred B's for at least several months, and when they do they'll be the same prices, so might as well get a A now and a B down the road.

I am UK based and I have one of those 1800xp's from komplett - my opinion is dont bother. Mines at 1833 1.775v but its very hot (internal diode saying mid 60's)

Are you sure that isnt an isolated incident? bad chip? biased mobo temperature taking? poor HSF? poor HSF contact? poor use of thermal grease? bad airflow in the case?

According to a lot of the Americans on the boards, most T'Bred A's are good overclockers and can quite easily reach decent overclocks on quite quiet cooling.

[EDIT: not trying to criticise anything to do with your PC but it doesnt seem consistent with the American overclocks. Unless its the stepping :(]

I have an epox kt333 motherboard 512mb of pc3200 in a koolance case. A not to bad setup in my opinion. I had a 1600xp pali in it before the tbred and that was running 1.95v@1743mhz with internal diode temps of 49c. The smaller core is harder to transfer heat - my cpu socket temps are low 35c but the internal temps are high - I know which I trust more.

BUMP

Im going to guess on an older stepping from Komplett. Any of you US people know where I can pick up the latest T''Bred B 1800+'s from and have them shipped across to the UK?

The rev A tbred is very good for overclocking (many ppl do 12.5@166). I am in the US and have been looking for rev b's forever, so now I am just going to get a rev A.
From what I have heard, the B's overclock more.

I think that Mingon probably has a bad chip, since he should not be having to do 1.775 to hit 1833 on a rev a.

You could buy a 1700 tbred rev A at newegg for 58$ (36UK?), or you could wait till the rev b's are available.

Elcs, you WILL NOT be able to find a Tbred B for the next few months unless you have someone that works at AMD who can sneak you out one. Read my previous post in this thread for info.

I am 100% sure that NewEgg or someone was selling B's

Everyone is selling 2400+ and higher Tbred B's because they are guaranteed to be Tbred Bs. Tbred A's are some 2200+'s (some are Tbred Bs) and every other Tbred B that is being sold right now. Every Tbred being manufactured as of right now is a Tbred B, but anything below the 2200+ WILL NOT hit the retail channel for several months.

60c for internal cpu temp is not that hot ,remember internla diode temps will be much hotter than read from an external sensor

Did you see the internal temp of his palmino?
I had a 1600xp pali in it before the tbred and that was running 1.95v@1743mhz with internal diode temps of 49c.

That seems very low! ,what are you using for cooling?

And yeah I saw Mingons temps ,that's why I said!:p;)
