I had to return my 1 GHz because of bent pins.

I'm thinking of telling them to just ship me a 1.2 GHz instead. I see some impressive 1.2 posts up here lately! Are these things showing up Unlocked? Are the 1.2 GHz from Dresden only?

I have to call them Monday (The 1GHz is already being FedExed) if I'm gonna act on it. I'm dealing with Icompz and if you look at the weekly price guide on Anandtech's front page, you will see a price listing of 268.00 from Icompz. Although Icompz.com shows a different price)

Should I go for it?

The thing is I already bought it, but, since it had to be returned - Is it a good idea to go for the 1.2 instead?

well if you have the $ I say go for it. If you calculate price increace/MHz it's not a ripp off.

Overclockability looks good for that chip (1.2) and this board, when initially I didn't think so.

If you've got the money, definitely go with the 1.2GHz. With that and a KT133A board you can get yourself an awesome overclock :)

Felonious,

I would go with 1.2 GHz Tbird. You have a good chance of getting an unlocked chip, and you you have assurance that it will be made in Dresden with copper interconnect.

Icompz was very cool about it. They just charged me the difference. BTW 265.00 for 1.2 GHz TBird is a sweet deal. Err... uh Today anyway!

i jumped from the 1.1ghz to the 1.2ghz when my tbird died. can't wait to try out the 266 FSB from downing the multiplier, having it factory unlocked saves a few pains and the questionability of the pencil method. whatever you do go for make sure you snag the warrenty, definitely worth it ;)

paruhdox- how much was the 3 yr. warrenty from pc progress? i noticed they have the 266 FSB version as well, this would have to be the first retailer i've seen selling it, interesting.
