I'll be upgrading VERY slowly from a Tbird 1.2GHz, KT133A board, 256 MB PC133 SDRAM. Due to budget constraints, i first have to make an immediate decision...which will make an "immediate" increase in performance from a Tbird 1.2GHz, KT133A, 256MB PC133 SDRAM:

a. XP 1700+, nForce mobo, BUT only 128 MB PC2100 DDR for the meantime...

or

b. keep the Tbird 1.2GHz for the meantime, get an nForce mobo and 256 MB PC2100 DDR

Silly, eh? :)

Among the 2...I'll take the 2nd one w/ more RAM application run smoother.;)

But seriously the 1st option w/ more RAM will give u a much needed performance boost.

Go for "b" since you can always upgrade to Barton later next year. 1.2 is plenty for most of todays games. 256mb DDR is the barest minimum.

I would also go for option B because of the larger amount of RAM. I would probably get pc2700 though :)
