At a stock boost of 1100MHz it's a great card. With the price drops at the 290/x release it's worth a revisit.

There's a 670 in the mix for comparison. It looks like a great big brother to the mid range kepler and beats it quite handily.

Also keep an eye out for the FTW edition. I picked one up on sale for $499 including the 3 game bundle.
Standard GTX 780 and GTX 780 SC = 6 phase design
GTX 780 FTW = 8 Phase
GTX 780 Classified = 14 Phase

The ACX cooler is very quiet BUT with the stock fan profile gets loud under load (at least for my taste. I VERY picky about noise) because of the aggressive stock profile.
Once you set up a custom fan profile you are looking at fairly quiet card during gaming sessions.
Stock fan profile card, card stayed in mid 70's (22c ambient)
With custom fan profile and OC to 1200 card never exceeded 78c.

My favorite would definitely be the Classified & Lightning. The markup is usually a bit high though.

It seems like quite a few manufacturers are making fairly decent cards but those two stand out for build quality and warranty.

With the recent price cuts and e.g. newegg 10% promotions the 780 is a lot more appealing lately.

I absolutely love my 780 Lightning. From the moment you open the box, this thing just screams quality. I was like a little kid on christmas. I even showed the wife. It's beautiful and whisper quiet. I haven't even overclocked it yet, since it slices through everything with ease. I do only play at 1900x1200, so I can crank up the extras. I was going to go with an aftermarket 290, but I just couldn't wait anymore. Nevertheless, this thing is a beast and one of the best videocards i've ever purchased.

I wonder how many people have bought 780s because of the glacial time to market of the aftermarket cooled 290s. If I didn't have a line on a used 290, I would just buy the 780 right now

After telling everyone to wait for AIB 290's with custom coolers and being bombarded with Newegg email blasts about coupons\deals, in a moment of weakness I bought an EVGA GTX780 FTW edition for 499+free shipping + 3 game holiday bundle.
No regrets whatsoever
