TB Santa Cruz question? Does it come with daughter Card?

I was looking into buying a new TB santa cruz sound card

I was reading off of specs on a website selling this card, and the ad says

PCI 6-Speaker Sound Card Santa Cruz drives up to 6 powered speakers in various combinations, including discrete 5.1, quad and virtual surround with stereo speakers or headphones. Programmable DSP effects further enhance your sonic experience with riveting three-dimensional realism. Unlike conventional sound cards, Santa Cruz is engineered for the future with a powerful Cirrus Logic SoundFusion® DSP accelerator that not only renders audio effects processing in real time but also optimizes overall PC system performance. For example, when playing PC games, the DSP accelerates 3D audio streams to free the host processor for graphics and other tasks. When listening to MP3 music, the DSP reassigns its resources to offload MP3 processing overhead from the host CPU. Includes PCI sound card, CD audio cable, software and manual, has additional speaker output bracket for 4 speaker support with S/PDIF output for digital audio.

I have seen this feature advertised on 2 places, but cannot find any info about the "daughter card" on the manufacturers site, or any pictures of it anywhere. I really dont want to spend 10 dollars extra to find out what it is.

Does any one have any experience with this feature? "daughter card"? what it looks like?

Mine didn't come with one (OEM)

Card is a piece of crap. The mic input picks up anything coming out of the output connections. Just talked to a guy that bought on the other day and has the same problem. As far as I know, all the sound cards out there are ass :| My Audigy sounded good, but the drivers sucked and gave me problems. TB has the problem I mentioned. The other folks seem to have discontiued theirs no?

dude all i have to say is you stuff is craped... i have the retail ver and every computer i build i put on it and everything on it works right from the start..... and no i don't have one of them other cards that you speaken of but i will say one thing the santa cruz is one hell of a fine card!!! and ppl that blows it off are ppl that just either have started luck with it or they just think that the other company is God!

Dude all I have to say is your stuff is crapy... I have the retail VER of this card and every computer i build i put a santa cruz in... I have never had probs with them and everything works... not to say the card sounds very good even in games! I never got any type of "daughter card" but there are some options in the sound control for this feature whatever it is! most ppl that complains of this card has probs installing it and thinks it's crap but really they just don't know how to install the card right... check out there faq on there site and make sure you use the righ drivers, either that or they think the the company that makes audigy is God!!!

this forums gets sucky every othe week whats this can't edit messg twice... I'm glad other forums are down to earth!

I've never heard of this additional speaker output bracket for the Santa Cruz. Anyway, you don't need it for 4 speaker support and S/PDIF output, its there by default. The VersaJack can be configured as an S/PDIF output, and also can be configured as part of a 5.1 analog output. The Versa stands for Versatility 🙂

Anyway, the only daughterboard it supports is a wavetable daughterboard, via the onboard "Waveblaster" header. I have my Yamaha DB50XG connected like that, but I hardly ever use it anymore. A daughterboard is quite a different animal from a speaker output bracket.

Edit: Finally I'm a Diamond Member 🙂

Talking about the Santa Cruz, what is the 'expansion slot' at the edge of the card for? Did TB ever made something for it?

Thanks for the responses. There was a place on the back of the card that wa listed as "fututre upgrades" and thought the speaker bracket may have been a new feature.
