Taxi service in VA costs the same?

going somewhere and dont want to take my car.

2 different companies had the same rates:

$ 3.50 First one-fourth mile or part thereof
$ 0.50 Each additional ¼ mile
$ 1.50 Each additional passenger
Customer is responsible for all tolls paid

the only time i took a taxi was to dulles airport. (Dulles Flyer rocks. but they ONLY goto the airport.)

so is this the standard rates for all Northern VA taxis?

My mom does a lot, whenever the lawyers wanna file late and she misses the train. There is slight variance in pricing. For reference, companies that cater to the airport tend to charge just a bit more.
HOWEVER, they tend to be faster and more reliable.

Last time I took a cab was years ago and it was Manassas Cab. The rates look slightly less than the ones you quoted but NOVA is a big place so you probably need to be a bit more specific to get more responses.

Some cities set the fees that cab companies can charge. If the cab companies want to change the fees, they have to get it approved by the city.

aside from the dulles flyer, only time i take taxis i can barely remember the ride, let alone the rate structure

All cab companies within a regulated area will have to charge same fee.

After they operate outside the regulated area in terms of destination, then they are free to charged differently after they leave area. Two fare tiers.
