No sh!t. I was unemployed for about 48 hours when I lost my job in January. What the hell is wrong with you people!?!

:p

Just kidding. I know the job market sucks, and the only reason I'm not making government grilled cheese sandwiches right now is because I have a law degree.

It doesn't help anything if somebody with a PHD In physics is working as a sales grunt at bestbuy, when he could potentially be spending that time looknig for work. Of course it is better to be that sales grunt than bitch about it all day and spend only 90 min/week looking for work.

If the govt. didn't piss our tax dollars away, we wouldn't have to pay so much. Our tax dollars should be handled as if the USA was a corporation. Companies know how to handle cashflow, our govt. does not unless it's into their pockets.

If govt. was a company I would never buy its stock and it would have gone bankrupt every other month :)

My ex gf's dad was laid off from verizon he sat around all day collecting unemployment. He would look for a job on thursdays only. Nice to know my tax money is going towards something productive.

It's hard -- the budget process encourages waste, but is also so massively big that it's hard to reform it. Less efficiency budgeting leads to more money needed in tax revenue. And so on.

For a spoiled brat always given a silver spoon I can understand such laziness, but from an adult with a family that's unacceptable, and pathetic.

Ah, Dickens...

`Are there no prisons?' asked Scrooge.

`Plenty of prisons,' said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.

`And the Union workhouses?' demanded Scrooge. `Are they still in operation?'

`They are. Still,' returned the gentleman, `I wish I could say they were not.'

`The Treadmill and the Poor Law are in full vigour, then?' said Scrooge.

`Both very busy, sir.'

`Oh! I was afraid, from what you said at first, that something had occurred to stop them in their
useful course,' said Scrooge. `I'm very glad to hear it.'

`Under the impression that they scarcely furnish Christian cheer of mind or body to the multitude,'
returned the gentleman, `a few of us are endeavouring to raise a fund to buy the Poor some meat and drink,
and means of warmth. We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt,
and Abundance rejoices. What shall I put you down for?'

`Nothing!' Scrooge replied.

`You wish to be anonymous?'

`I wish to be left alone,' said Scrooge. `Since you ask me what I wish, gentlemen, that is my answer.
I don't make merry myself at Christmas and I can't afford to make idle people merry. I help to support
the establishments I have mentioned--they cost enough; and those who are badly off must go there.'

`Many can't go there; and many would rather die.'

`If they would rather die,' said Scrooge, `they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.
Besides--excuse me--I don't know that.'

`But you might know it,' observed the gentleman.

`It's not my business,' Scrooge returned. `It's enough for a man to understand his own business, and
not to interfere with other people's. Mine occupies me constantly. Good afternoon, gentlemen!'

The job market is not that bad right now. I am sick of hearing that from John Kerry and the rest of the media that supports him.

For a spoiled brat always given a silver spoon I can understand such laziness, but from an adult with a family that's unacceptable, and pathetic.

He's a single father, with one daughter grown up and out of the house; and the other one on her way out. He lucked into some rental propery (purchased from my family for cheap, actually.) and get's about $400 a month from that (mortgage - rent == $600ish) and I'm assuming he had some savings. All in all; he's a lazy bum.

What bothers me MUCH more is when I was growing up there were some kids in my best friends neighborhood who's parents never worked. They always talked about waiting for their welfare checks and whatnot. In specific; there was one father who was always outside playing basketball with his friends. When I was little I always wondered why he didn't have to work.. Now I know.

Why work when you can stay home at eat at my tax dollars?

Welfare should be a degenerate thing. As in; the checks get lower and lower as time goes on. Also; after the first child people should NOT get tax breaks. Also if someone is on welfare any more than two children should lower tax breaks. I've heard over and over again about women on welfare having kids for the tax benefits.

Yeah, its kind of a mess. Some people actually need it, but it seems like a whole lot more of them just are looking for a handout. I've heard trashy people say things like "Its takes about 5 kids to make a good living." Are these really the people we want reproducing? LOL.

Welfare takes .07 cents of each tax dollar. The biggest cut goes to Social Security with .22 cents out of each tax dollar followed by defense and interest on the debt at .16 cents and .15 cents respectively. I don't know what the political agenda of the below link is but that picture seems in line with what I have read elsewhere regarding how the Federal budget breaks down per tax dollar.

Little illustration of where a tax dollar goes.

A little misleading when someone is talking about doing their federal income tax... as SS does NOT come out of federal income taxes, but is taxed seperately in your withholding. Show a breakdown of where your federal INCOME tax goes, not FICA.

I say slash the welfare down and increase the veterans share! It really bugs me that we keep shafting those guys.

and most likely those guys probably are just paper ph'ds they went some easy schools in the midwest or south and coasted through the program; did their thesis on how jesus can fully explain the effects of quantum entanglement and then they wonder why ibm or bell labs wont bring them in to work in their research labs and they have to work at radio shack.
