The best fee of all time is the "cost recovery fee". Silly me I thought that when I paid you that was how you covered your cost but somehow in addition to that profit you tacked on a fee to "recover costs". Amazing!

Phone companies have to charge extra taxes that cable companies do not. Sucks for you that there is no cable internet then.

Reminds me of the hydro company. There's your basic per kwh charge, which comes up to maybe like 50 bucks depending on how much you use.

Then they tack on all these other fees, and one of them is a debt retirement fee. WTF? meanwhile the execs are making over 100k some even in the multiple 100's. If you have a debt then why are you paying these guys ridiculous salaries?

Then, they added HST, so that whole fee is now also taxed at 13% or whatever it is these days. So what should be a $50 hydro bill ends up being like $130.

Kind of like my cable bill. For cable, phone, and internet the package is $99. After adding modem, tuners, remotes, taxes, grafts, line fees, it comes out to about $170 now.

They shouldn't be able to advertise a pre-tax/bullshit amount as what you pay in their advertising, because it is clearly false.

On the bright side, they ended the Spanish American War tax on phones after only 108 years. So maybe in another 100 years, another tax can be lowered.

You think an exec making over $100K is obscene?

The Federal Subscriber Line Charge is a fee that 100% goes to the phone company. The Gov does not get any of that.
