If I lived in another state for ~10 weeks on an internship that was paid, do I declare myself a part time resident of that state? Or a non-resident? I know this sounds stupid but I want to make sure.

It depends on the state. A lot of states have mutual agreements about how their residents are taxed. For example, when I was in college, I lived in Indiana year round, and worked for the university. However, I paid my taxes in Michigan, because of the two states agreements with each other.

Oh Gawd. I'm in college in Illinois ,and I'm originally from Texas where we don't have a state income tax. I hate filling out the damn Illinois tax. But I say, if you don't live there now, f*ck 'em! You're certainly not a resident, and I wouldn't even worry about paying the taxes as a non-resident. What are they gonna do, send out the FBI?

You don't make that much do you? I can't imagine that it would be worth the auditor's time to track you down for ±$100

Okay, well, if you just lived there for 10 weeks and you had no intention of living there longer, then you were not a resident. I live in Chicago for 3/4 of the year and I still don't consider myself an Illinois resident.

<--Gonna keep holding on to his Texas drivers license till he dies

In PA, the state my question is about, I made about $2500.

Like I said, I've already paid $20 for the form so Im filing it no matter what, just wanted some clarification.
