Do you do it manually, with paper forms, do you use software (which?), or have someone else do your tax preparations?

Being that this is a once per year activity for me, I can never remember which is the two softwares, Turbo Tax and Tax Cut, has most recently offended the common computer user with intrusive software. Can someone refresh my memory? I thought one of them installed some POS counter-piracy software that monkeys with one's optical writer. The wife thought it was TT, so yesterday we picked up TC, but for some odd reason I thought it was TC that was playing a-hole last year. I ask, because I have not opened TC yet and would rather exchange it if its TC that is playing s/w a-hole.

I'll also try to remember to instill a Restore Point on the wife's computer (that s/w is getting no where near my computers).

Manually with paper & snail mail. I'm thinking about doing it all online this year..haven't decided yet. I can use a 1040EZ, so it's really not that bad..

I have used Tax Cut since 2001 and still like the software. I don't see any reason to pay for TurboTax just because they have a name. Both programs work equally well, it's just personal preference I guess.

I've used Turbo Tax online for at least five years as it has been free while I was making a grad student's salary. I think I may have paid for it last year... I don't remember.

I plan to use it again this year unless I find one that's free or one that offers a State and Federal form for one low price. Turbo Tax remembers me and my info from year to year which is both scary and convenient at the same time.
