if only i hadn't moved i could be saving a few dollars :( i guess i'll have to hope they do the back to school tax-free week in Florida again

Nice. We're having a similar thing at the end of August, but it's for one day, and it's only on school supplies for kids. I guess the governor thinks that if we don't have kids, we can afford to pay higher taxes. :disgust:

And for those who don't know, it will also be tax-free weekend in South Carolina and Georgia that weekend.

If you intend to make a big technology or clothing purchase, SC may be your best bet because there are no caps on maximum tax-free purchases in those categories. For instance, clothing or footwear items costing over $100 are taxed in NC. Computer purchases in Georgia are only exempt through the first $1500 and in NC through the first $3500.

As a result, shopping in SC may provide you with more flexibility, specifically if looking to purchase big ticket items.
