Tattooed Fish

Spokeswoman Gina Browning says the practice is not illegal as far as she knows, but they don't condone it.

"Morally and ethically what we're looking at is incorrect. Any animal lover would agree, it's so unnatural," says Browning.

It is not an accepted practice to serious fishkeepers. These are sold to people who dont really care about aquaria.

old news. Most fish that you have in a freshwater tropical tank that are bright colors are actually tatooed.

Thats a lie. Source?

Maybe if you shop at Walmart. Petsmart or PetCo isn't much better.

I remember seeing those "Painted" Glass fish at Wal-mart. I wonder if they knew what they were buying and selling? I almost bought a few, they looked freakin sweet and I had no idea till now that they were not bred that way.

A non dyed cichlid

These are all central american cichlids. Not a dyed fish among them. You can draw your own conclusions about freshwater fish.

There are a lot of species that are naturally beautiful... So what if someone figured out how to take a fish that's easily bred and make a little extra money from them?

Oh, and concerning the writers of the article who claimed it would be like us getting stabbed by pencils??! Fish cells are to scale smaller than our cells? Fish nerve endings are much much smaller than our nerve endings?? There really isn't a difference, plus I'd bet that the people dying the fish are anesthetizing the fish ahead of time... otherwise, it'd be a pain in the neck to work with the fish.)
