Decided to try intels TAT to check my temps and with the burn test at 100%, the temps never got above 73 degrees. I read somewhere that C2Ds like my E4400 don't throttle until 85 degrees so I think I'm in good shape thermally. Can anyone confirm this?

TATs 100 percent setting is the hottest your chip will ever get, Try a dual orthos or a blended test and see what core temp tells you. I have a thing about not letting my chips get above 65ish, that allows ambient temp changes to keep me well below the cap and saving processor life. While 73 is still underspec id see what temps you get in real world load conditions.

Careful with that TAT proggy!

It's designed to check the cooling system in notebooks/laptops and NOT authorized, recommended, or released by Intel for use by the public.

It works by shocking (overloading) the CPU and seeing if the lappy blows up and/or shuts down. If it doesn't, the cooling is okay...

It's more of a cooler test than a CPU test, if you get my drift!

Put another way, if you're a manufacturer and you burn up a few CPUs dialing in your cooling system - oh, well - cost of doing business!

Most of 'us' can't afford this, however... :D
