taskbar transparency goes away when I open an app

Well? When I first boot my computer, the taskbar is transparent. I like it. However, when I open a program (EG Thunderbird) the transparency goes away. If I close all open apps, the transparency comes back. How do I make it stay?

The transparency goes away when you have an application maximised (ie full screen), the same happens with the title bar of that application. This is by design in Vista to stop the eye straying and allowing you to kep focus on the application at hand. There are a few theme theme patches that claim to do (VistaGlazz) which you could look into but there are no registry swtiches that'll do what you ask.

weak. Thanks though.

If you pull the edges of the window to the edges of your screen you can have full screen and transparency, some apps remember the setting and will open that way every time, Firefox for example.
