Taskbar Remove Harware icon

Ever Since I installed a New HDD on my computer, the remove hardware button has been on my hard drive. it keeps asking for permission to remove the HDD I installed. The HDD works perfectly fine. How do I get rid of this notification?

Is it an SATA hard drive? If so, that's perfectly normal for some drives. Windows thinks that some SATA drives are removable storage since they are hot-swappable. Just ignore it.

I get the same thing with my boot drive I really think its funny and some time I'd love to "safely remove" the HD and see what happens.

You'll probably get the message "The device 'XXXXXXX' cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later"

This is caused by files being open/in-use on the device you're trying to stop....being your boot-HD, yer not gonna be able to do that....with Windows anyhow...

Yeah. Thanks. It is a SATA drive

Its been bugging me because I'm a perfectionist, and I don't like things that don't need to be there being there.
