Taskbar dissapears? PC Locks up when CD inserted.

When I insert a CD, sometimes the CD window dialog box freezes. (I'd like to fix that but that isn't the MAJOR issue). So I click "close" on the window. BUT then the Start/Task Bar disappears as well as all icons on my desktop. I tried starting a new task "explorer" but then the task manager locks up and nothing ever appears. I am forced to restart my PC.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

Any chance you have Nero InCD? If so, uninstall it, reboot, and see if your CD drive problem is cured.

Please post your pc's specs (motherboard model, CD and DVD models, OS version, Burning software installed, etc.)
