Where do you put the taskbar on your screen (for those users of Windows and other OSes with taskbars). I was fooling around and put my taskbar on the top of the screen - I found this makes accessing stuff in the start menu much easier

Reasons

#1 - If I use the start menu, I only have to move my mouse down to scroll through the hierarchy of program links. When the taskbar is at the bottom, the way the submenus pop up sometimes makes me have to move the mouse up AND down.

#2 - The file/edit/etc... menus on individual apps are at the top, if I want to press buttons on both taskbar and application menus I don't have to move the mouse as far.

The only downside is that this looks a little funny to me. Perhaps I will get used to it in time.

Any thoughts?

My taskbar is on top for the same reasons you mentioned. I've had it there for so long it seems normal to me now.

I don't know about the later MacOSes, but I have 7.6.1 on my Mac and I hate the fact that I can't easily see all the programs that are open, or switch between them easily with alt-tab. Perhaps I have not found the feature, but the menu indicates no shortcut like it usually does (APPLEKEY+other_key).

I have my taskbar at the top, since I find my mouse spends most of its time towards the top anyway using menus & whatnot. Further, I have a quick launch bar along the left, which is also very convevient. Both are always and top, and neither are auto-hide.
