I'm setting up a mail/web server for my lab, and I was wondering how to schedule tasks under Win2K. In particular, I would like to schedule the following once a week or so if possible, so I don't have to manually do it all the time:
1) Reboot server
2) Defrag hard disk
3) Run virus scan (Norton AV 2000)
4) Back up some files (mail/web) - maybe zipped to another PC on the network
Anyone know how to do any of these?

Thanks in advance...

1. there is no reason to do this, but if you insist... install the support tools and use the shutdown.exe... all the switches are explained. this can be scheduled with Task scheduler

2. the version of diskeeper that comes with win2k does not have any built in scheduling nor is there any cmd line way in which to do this unattended. however, there is a free upgrade path you can take. v 5.03 of diskeeper (the free one) can be found on the internet. just search around for it. this bbs has provided links in the past so you could even search here. v5.03 will allow you to schedule defrags from within the application

3. all your virus applications (that are worhtwhile) have built in scheduling for scans.

4. haven't looked at the current version of backup included with win2k, but you are able to provide cmd line switches for running backup. this can be placed into the task scheduler by use of a simple batch file. if you want to zip up specific files first, many of the file compression utilities for rar, zip, arj offer cmd line functionality. again... place it into a batch file that is called by the Task scheduler.
