task manager icon in system tray

In windows XP (and 2000 IIRC) when you open the task manager, an icon that looks like a little green graph opens in the system tray and shows your CPU usage, when you mouse-over it will tell you the actual %. However this icon is only shown while the task manager is open, and taking up space...is there anyway to have windows display this small icon w/ cpu usage information while the task manager is NOT running?

Not sure what you are asking, but if you open the task manager, click on the options menu, and check "hide when minimized" That way, it will show the little icon on the tray, but will not show up on the task bar.

yeah, i may have worded it akwardly, but that does exactly what I wanted it to.

Also, if you click start, then right click on programs, and click explore all users, you can create a shortcut in the startup folder. Double click on the startup folder, then right click and choose new shortcut. For the location, type "c:\winnt\system32\taskmgr.exe" (without quotes, and if you have XP, change winnt to windows). Then click next, then finish. Right click on the new shortcut and choose properties. On the shortcut tab look for "Run", then change the pull down menu to "minimized"

Now your taskmgr will run in the tray when you logout or restart the computer.
