I'm having problems with my rig. Games minimizing to the toolbar without any prompting on my part. I know that with Widows 98 I used to clear the taks manager to have only systray and explorer running. I thought I'd try a similar such thing with W2K, to see if it would get rid of the gaming glitch. But holy crap, the list of things running in the background, and W2K's message that this and that cannot be ended do to it being essential to the running of whatever.

Does anyone know what "must" be running on W2K? I swear I'm looking at over 30 exe things listed. Surely they can't all be essential.

Ummm, that's the problem. I recognize few of the acronymed, abbreviated names. I'm pretty new to the W2K system. I like it, but I don't understand it like I did Win 98.

damn I saw a post just 2 days ago on this forum with a link to a web site that listed all the necessary and unnecessary processes of Win2k...I should have bookmarked it. Look around, you may find it!
