task bar on desktop is gone...

im sure this is a easy fix but the task bar on the bottom of desktop is gone like i stated in title...i have looked everywhere i thought to look...if you need anymore info jus post sorry for such a stupid question...thanks

check the left and right and top. also, check the settings in control panel.

move the mouse to all sides. perhaps you set it to auto-hide?

do a Ctrl+Esc. That should bring up the start button menu. It'll tell you at least which side its hiding on...........

If you ever get that fixed let me know. I had that issue on my first install of Vista & XP. I disabled a bunch of stuff and it disappeared. pressing the windows button and ctrl+esc did nothing. Ended up doing a reinstall of both, but they were fresh installs anyway so no real loss except my time.

when i press windows key it pops up the start menu but the task bar doesnt show up with it...surely i need to re install? i figured this would be an easy fix...i think the cat jumped up on it and pressed some buttons to make it dissapear..

okay, when you move the mouse to the bottom of the screen does the pointer change at any time?

Open "task Manager" using cont+alt+del, click "file", click "new task", type in: explorer.exe, then click "OK".

Go to this site, scroll down to number 164 and download that. Double click it and let it update your registry and reboot. Your taskbar will be set be set back to xp defaults.
