Since we couldn't decide which project to run, I'm starting stats for both Cuboid and Leiden Classical. I've recorded the starting stats and I'll post them soon.

And after a few messge board posts back and forth with the admin guy of Leiden, he assumes that within a week the work shortage problem of Leiden should have solved itself.

Can you guys post in here if you intend to run Leiden, Cuboid or both? Just so we can get a rough estimate about who's on board this month an with what project?! :)

I'm all over Leiden, once work is available again, aiming for at least the 20k milestone.

I'm a both, but I don't expect to do much Leiden. I'm getting tired of the whole mess of trying to remove cheaters in the stats.

Actually, I'm not sure how much Cuboid I'll do either. I'd like to do some more Riesel Sieve, and maybe look at some other projects.

Is there anyway to tranfer work units to other computers? My Xeon 2.4 has about 45 cached. LOL :D

Once when uFluids was out of work, I found I could move an entire BOINC folder from one machine to another. That was from a PIII-667 to a P-M 1.5GHz, just so more work could get done in a given period of time. But if you did that with networking off, and aborted half the WUs from each machine, it would be complicated, but it might work.

P.S. Hey, Jim, a.k.a. "acferace", I think you misspelled your name in Cuboid on a machine somewhere!

I know, I know. ;)

I *think* it's the AMD laptop, but since the stats on the cuboid site are sparse (no individual box stats) I can't really tell which one. Cuboid is a bit of a black box. I'm a SQA Engineer. I don't like black boxes...

Hey, I'm in QA, too. :) I'm an "Automation Test Engineer", writing Quick Test Pro tests. So I sort of know what you mean, but I always seem to get stuck with companies that don't document their applications well. :( So I'm used to black boxes. :p

Well, your name is on the first line of c:\windows\cbd_identifier.dat, if that helps.

I'm not sure if you can just change your name by editing that file so I'd first try to contact someone from the cuboid site.

I tried the name change, but as you say there is also a UID that is different between the two names. It's not a big deal, but I will email them.

thx...

Dang, I did it again. Last night I bought up a complete Opty 165 system for only $370 shipped from fellow TA DC'er PowerMacMan. No way I can put this at home (yes, dear) , so it'll go under my desk at work. I need a decent system anyway, as work is incredibly cheap at getting my dept. computers to use. Right now, I'm using a beat up hand-me-down XP1700+ with 512Mb RAM, and it ain't getting the job done.

With the Opty, I'll have something that can run my test software, and if I leave it on 24/7.. ;)

Hello TAS!

I want to apologize for being such an inadequate TAS admin during Peter's leave. Real life keeps me pretty busy; I do my daily Rosey stats and that's about it these days. I'm at home only two days of the week, the other days I spend "on the road" travelling to and from my wife to unversity. So crunching really has become a less important point in my life.

I don't know how TAS will continue. Peter is the guy who held it all together and as long as he's not "up and running" again, I don't think that TAS is going anywhere soon. In that sense, I'd like to suggest that the next month - December - is a "free for all" & "crunch whatever you want" month, just like the BOINC months we already had. Let's hope that Peter returns by the end of December, so we can combine forces again and give some DC projects a good run for their money.

Again, sorry guys!
