The WUs are short deadline because MC is still beta.

What annoys me is that I can't get more WUs until what I have is all done (or almost all done anyway). I am not connected all the time and if there are two or three WUs still to crunch, I cannot get more before sleeping or going to work.

Ahhh, that is the problem - I have been wondering about that.
So MalariaControl is monopolistic: crunch them only otherwise you get very few WUs. :(

Well - I got to see what I will do ... I am also engaged in the SETI-race and do not want to stop that ... :Q

I have 27 projects attached on my home computer. About 10 of them (mostly test projects) are allowed to get work. I don't have any problem with that computer receiving Malaria work units when I let it get new work (I turn it off sometimes to make sure my test projects get extra CPU time) and it doesn't seem to interfere with the other projects at all unless I get jobs from some of the test projects that put 24 hour - or higher - estimated processing times on their work units so the client thinks it is overcommitted, even though most of those test work units take 10 minutes or less to finish.

I have noticed that the Malaria client seems to get very unhappy and won't download new work for me when there are any QMC work units queued. I'm not sure why but it's probably because of the relatively long processing time on the QMC jobs. I don't run QMC much so it's not a problem for me but since TAS just finished running QMC I thought I'd mention it in case you still have work in queue from that project.

RE: Thought on the Malaria client as relates to QMC...

I'm not running QMC at all, but the new E@H client does have much longer workunits possible than before, so it could be that's the issue I was encountering, ie. different project but an issue for the same reason.

In any event, once the current E@H workunits are cleared out, I'm sure my MC production will pick up a bit. :)

The stats are looking great thanx Peter!! :D Oh and TAS is as always showing what we're made of!;)

I've always had a problem with MC not getting or sending work on some crunchers. I have to manually hit update to get them going. I run 2 projects on all my machines, so maybe the problem is with that then..

I'm guessing that because MC has short deadlines they get crunched before the second project and then waits to get more WUs until the second project makes up its time to get even.

That makes sense, Gleem. The scheduler doesn't appear to react very well when projects take more (or less) time to complete work than expected.

Stop making sense, you're making my brain hurt! :D

Well - what did the newspapers report when Chrushtew (a passed sovjet chairman) and Kennedy had a race in their cars around the red scare?:

Sovjet paperr: Comrade Chairman Chrushtew came to a honorable second place while the Capitalist President Kennedy only came second last.
US-papers: President Kennedy won and "the shoe" Chrushtew came last.

The real story: there were only two racers...

So being in the third place is not too bad - Gemany did not loose in the finals! ;) and wan the in the fight for the bronze medal! :D

Great!
I have committed quite a few comps to the Seti-race - see Rattledagger's posts. My total capacity is about 3000 credits a day or something like that ... and sharing that between seti, malariacontrol, SIMAP and Rectilinear Crossing Numbers ... that makes it a race because malariacontrol is so finnikey - won't give you any WUs if you have WUs in your comp that get close to the deadline of malariacontrol.
I think you have a really good chance.

Ha, petrus is crazy: running two races at a time - ;) :p
