With a vote of 6 out of 10 this month's vote goes to µfluids@home! So, get crunching!

FMC has already posted the starting stats and set up the new TAS thread over on the TAS board here.

... and Petrus is onboard with a dozen computers @ 50% - lets see where this gets us.
I have a personal goal: to get over 100 000 credits. Lets see how much I'll have to add to get that. In POEM I got more then 370 000 credits in one month, but POEM is much more generous with the credits I think ...

I think I will toss in 3 quads for the cause. SIMAP and Orbit@Home will get some of the time when they have work this month.

I have to toss out the 3 quads because they don't have a Linux app I can use.

I'm tossing in roughly 30 Pentium-D 3.0GHz machines and a quad. And off we go!

Hmm looks like it'll be a low credit project. One of my WUs that I just completed took 13404.96 and claimed 34.5. This same machine would get roughly 73 credit in 7k time on seti with optimized apps. 0_o

It'll take a few days to see for sure but this might get interesting. Maybe this WU was a fluke.

It's time for my monthly ritual of manually restarting BOINC on all of my computers. I don't know why, but whenever BAM! tells the clients to switch projects, the BOINC service gets disabled. Fortunately, almost all of them are on a domain so I can restart them from the domain controller instead of having to go to the computers to do it. :)

Strange. I use BAM and have never had that problem. What kind of account does the service use?

It happens whether I use the logged in users' accounts, the PC's admin account, or my own domain admin account, or if it runs as a System service. It happens on several different 5.10.x versions (I haven't installed the version 6 client on any machines yet). It doesn't make any sense to me, but it's just a minor annoyance once a month and not really hard to fix so I haven't done a lot of investigation into the source of the problem.

Yeah, since you can start it again on the server it doesn't sound to bad, just strange. My PCs all use a local admin account and then version 5.10.30 and I've had no troubles. Maybe I'm lucky and shouldn't touch anything :D

OK ... I switched over to uFluids about an hour ago. It'll take a day or two to finish up some left-over Rosetta wu's.

...by the way -- I'm back from Tennessee. It was very nice to be able to visit with my father (he's 89), and my sister and her family.

Last month, before I left for TN, I installed AVG 8.0 on one of my machines. It runs BOINC just fine for about a day; then, something happens and internet connectivity is interrupted. The problem is local to that machine, though. The other machine continues to run BOINC just fine, and it also has no internet connectivity issues. The two machines are connected to the same router, and the IP address assignment is static. I'm still re-grouping here in WA and haven't had time to properly troubleshoot the problem yet. I haven't even looked at the system log. AVG 8.0 includes many new features, and I'm still learning about them. Today I updated to BOINC 5.10.45 on both my machines (it couldn't hurt).

If anyone out there has had a similar problem after installing AVG 8.0, I would really like to hear from them.

Gotta go. My son has a summer league basketball game this evening.

Hmm... I'm thinking of moving over to SETI for this month. Since I've got the extra fire power I'm thinking it might be more useful for the team on SETI, would bring down the time to over take the next team by quite a bit. I'm going to join SETI on all my computers but not accept WUs yet, once I get the optimized apps out to all the machines I'll think about switching over.

Somewhat OT:

You know what I really like about TAS?
I mean, except the great camaraderie, the great generosity, the good attitude among the members and such ...

Well, I really like the way things get solved when one member has a hard time in RL and the way the other members of TAS join the effort to make TAS a great mini-team with great stats and good crunching.

  and :wine: to BMC, FMC, RT, and all the others! :D

Thanks! Hopefully I can get some more this weekend. I'm going up to San Fran tomorrow and I'll be taking pictures of the Fireworks over the bay. I've never done fireworks before so it'll be interesting no matter what!

And I must agree petrusbroder! :)

And on a more on topic note: We should have a "who can get the most pending credit award." It could be another one of petrusbroder's cookies. I'm up to 16k. :disgust: This is going to be a never ending month I fear, I'll be still getting credit from uFluids all the way till Christmas!

Not quite as bad ... but almost. Although I have been crunching µFliuds for only the past 80 hours I already have more than 5 300 pending credits, which probably will translate too approx. 3 700 - 4 000 granted credits ...
I think we TAS:ers need to get in synch and crunch each others credits; this will probably happen within the next week or so ... ;)

I have just over 9K pending right now with only 4K total granted so far for the month. It should be interesting to see what happens when the points start evening out for us.

Look at it that way: even a long time after you quit crunching µfluid WUs you'll still get credit for a long time. :)

I'm not as concerned about the pending credit (although it is annoying) as I am about the lack of credit in general. Including credit that has not yet been granted, I have only turned in a TOTAL of 23K points in the six days since the beginning of the month where even on a low credit project I should be getting at least 5K per day (about 30K total).
