How much did you start at? and did they have benefits for you if you worked part-time?

Im in dire need of job with medical and dental benefits

Don't forget to post what state you're in...

Minimum wage varies quite a bit.

If you need medical and dental benefits right away, I don't think you should consider Walmart or Target for entry level jobs. I believe they have a not insubstantial waiting period before health benefits kick in. Consider Costco. If you qualify as low income, you could probably get state insurance.
Here is a thread on FW that talks about health insurance options for the recently unemployed.
Good luck.

A unionized supermarket?

Before Shaw's was bought out by Albertsons, they offered every employee (full or part time) health beneifts.

Shaw's was bought out by Albertson's? We don't even have Albertson's around here...

😕

This Shaw's?

Edit:

Looks like they did...I'm still confused though. I thought Shaw's was based in MA...and they are the dominant grocery store up here in New England. I've never seen an Albertson's and I thought that was a west coast only store...

😕

yes, benefits, part time, 8.50 an hour for night shift pushing and backstocking

When I worked at walmart a while back I started at $5.50 a hour when minimum wage was $4.25 a hour. I worked a target and started at $5.75 a hour when minimum wage was $5.15 a hour.

If you want benefits, don't look at retail. You didn't say where you live, so I don't know if this is available to you, but check your phone book for employment agencies. You want to look for an entry level office position - a mail room, courier, office clerk, that sort of thing. The employer pays the agency, so it won't cost you anything - if it does, call another agency. Or go directly to any large bank in your area, they're always looking for tellers, proof operators, etc. for part-time work.

Good luck.
