Do you think, that if I went into target to exchange one copy of BF1942 with another copy, they would accept that? I legitimately bought the game, but after installation, the CD would fubar my cd drives and such, and would not be detected by the game (windows detected it fine, of course. even when the disc was out of the drive). etc. etc.

I don't have the reciept anymore, so I dunno what they would do. I'm currently using a no-cd crack seeing as how it's letting me use my game which I paid for

Target is pretty good with returns, they should at least let you exchange it for the same game. If not you probably will have to call EA and be on hold for a while. I used to work at a Target btw. Not the greatest of jobs.

Haha, I had to do the same thing (no-cd crack) to play my copy. Kinda ironic that one of the few games that I actually paid for REQUIRES me to do this. I blame it all on companies not following Red Book guidelines/rules and making what essentially is not officially a CD.

On that note, do what I... er someone I know... always does. Go to the store, buy the game. Go home, pack up the old one in the same box, return the old one. Er, wait... that only works for hardware. Not sure what will happen in your case. If you still have the packaging, just go to the customer service desk and tell them that someone bought it for you as a gift, that it doesn't work, and that you wanna exchange it for the same title. Shouldn't be a big problem.

Since I hate thread hijackers, and try to do so as little as possible, this will be my last post to that genius above...

If your opinion or thoughts actually mattered, I might have been hurt by your statement. Fortunately, that is not the case.
