YMMV as always with Target, but although they were marked $13.98 they rang up at $4.98. The tool kits are the older 110- and 97-piece mechanics sets. They were on the front of the aisle - not the back clearance area. The Target in Orange county at Alicia and the 5 freeway had about twenty sets after I bought 4 sets when I left at 9:30pm on Friday 16th.

Lifetime warranty on these mid-quality tools - at that price who cares!

Nice, I'll probably go pick one up for myself. Obviously they're no Craftsman or Snap-On, but hell - if you were really serious about tools or whatnot you'd already own a good set and would have no need or interest in buying these.

Your point? And no I didn't put it in the same league - it was used as examples, genius.

So which one is better craftmans or snap-on?

I saw an episode of Orange County Chopper and they made snap-on themed bike.

So I take it snap-on is the better of the two.

Snap-On is better but not because OCC made a Snap-On themed bike.
Target also has a B&D 150 pc. Drill/driver bit set for 75% off- $7.XX

From my experience in the shop, Snap-On. The thing about Craftsman is being able to take a broken piece of hardware into any Sears and having them replace it for you on the spot. I've broken a few working on cars before. Never broken any Snap-Ons, so I can't vouch for their warranty replacement.

I've worked in a auto-shop...here's my input.

Craftsman feel more flexible.....wrenches will open up when over-torqueing causing nuts/bolt heads to round. Tool fails, you take it into sears and get it replaced.

Snap-on feel more rigid....have broken a few getting stubborn suspension bolts off, but don't flex. Tool fails we called Snapon's #800 and a replacement tool was delivered within a day or so. Often they tossed in a extra basic tool to try as well.

Snapon also makes a much more varied line of tools..... you can find about 20 different variations of a 1/2" open end wrench (length, thickness, and lots of other wrench combos).

I will say the Snap On finish is more suspectible and shows dammage to finish....but hey, that's cosmetic. Snapon tools clean up easier because of the smoother finish also....

What do I own at home? Mostly Crafsman because of cost.....

My $.02

Edit: From comment made above:
" I saw an episode of Orange County Chopper and they made snap-on themed bike.
So I take it snap-on is the better of the two. "

No, snapon makes expensive bikes and has expensive promotional campaings.....which is part of the tool price you might pay. :)

I have all three tools.. SnapOn, Craftsman, and Matco. My favorites are the Matcos. Craftsman is what I have most of because I don't have a Matco truck visiting me every week... ;) SnapOn's newer stuff seems to be on level with Craftsman. Dunno if they changed their manufacturing process or what, but the last 3/8" ratchet I bought from them a few months ago feels spongey. I swapped it for another with the driver and same thing.

Not sure which you are looking for so - there are three sets of numbers on the barcode :-

97 Piece Socket and Wrench Tool Kit -
UPC - 8 38378 00131 8 and 085 05 0010 and TD315458-V

110 Piece Mechanics Tool Kit
UPC 8 38378 00130 1 and 085 05 0009 and TD315458-V

I guess the last one is a manufacturer ID as it is the same on both sets.

Hope it helps. Z

Dang, they said that it hasnt went to "salvage" yet, but I couldnt find any of them anywhere. I couldnt even find a clearance "end" isle. :(

They had 117 and 95 sets, but not 97 and 110, not on clearance though.

Anybody else get some? Where were they located?

I'd be more likely to believe an endorsement was paid (like Lowes, originally, then Home Depot, most recently, do with trading spaces.

I've personally never had an issue with Craftsman, and the lifetime replacement is a nice benefit.

Same for WA. They had at least 10 of each set. The B&D Drill Bit sets were $14.98. Had about 10 of those too. This was Lynnwood WA Target.

I'd have to say Mac Tools, are actually the worst.

I prefer my SnapOn stuffs. Piece by piece, my Craftsman stuff is being replaced by SnapOn tools. It helps to have a father who is a SnapOn franchisee :D

I prefer Craftsman because it is easier to replace when they break, but Snapon is better quality. I own ~$20k in Craftsman tools, and exacly $5.99 in Snapon :p

Can someone who went to the store share where the tools were located? I would like to go back, it would really be nice to have some tools laying around, especially at this price.

It's not Home Depot. There's only one tool aisle.

In NY they had both the 110 & 97 piece sets for 9.98

Target by me is always the last to reduce.
