First, so this qualifies as a deal thread:

Target is closing out a lot of software:
Alice $6.98
Tiger Woods Golf 9.98
Serious Sam Second Encounter 9.98
Deer Hunter 5 9.98

And a bunch of others.

IMPORTANT info: If you find anything in the closeout area and it scans as 0.00, they will ring it up at the price on the tag, no matter WHAT the markdown price really should be.
BUT!!!! it seems that they have all of the markdowns in the handheld price scanners and at the register that will show the MAXIMUM price to pay for a return WITHOUT A RECIEPT...

They do this, the helpfull manager at Target said last night, to prevent a person from buying something at store A for 5 bucks and trying to return it to store B without a reciept and getting a 10 dollar gift card, when store B is not marking stuff down using the same schedule.

This means that all the stores know what all the markdowns should be...

If you bring a piece of merch to the front that scans at zero, AND THERE IS NO PRICE TAG ON IT, you will get it at the lowest price possible (75% off? more?). They are not going to run around and try to find out what THEY marked it down to...it takes too much time, I was told.

I was at a store in coral springs fl last night, and found two items in the closeout bin. One had a tag and one did not...the one without a tag was scanned for a price significantly less than the one with a tag. When I pointed this out to the manager he told me the facts you read here.

Also varies from store to store. Some stores will sell it to you for the last price in their system, some will not sell it to you at all and some will make up a price and sell it to you for that. There may even be other ways that stores handle this, but one policy does not work at all stores.

Ya gotta love the wishy-washiness of Target management. No one knows what the other is doing. Which means? We all PROFIT!!!

Yup, i work at Target as a cashier and i'll either 1) wait for someone to check the price or 2) ask the customer if they remember the price or the price on a similar item. #2 works the best as it just saves a lot of time for both me, the customer, and customers behind them. There used to be a way to check for the last marked down price, but i know on a new system that was implemented a month ago, i don't think there's a way to check.

I saw the new system in action last night. They see a list of prices and just choose the lowest one. I guess this one is a YMMV.

And no, I do not advocate ripping off tags on merch. Technically, in this case, it might be considered stealing.
