I will primarily be putting my recrodings on DVDs (any ideas how I do this? :) ), so I want to use the media that wil produce the highest quality; I am assuming tape, but it could be equal...any ideas?

Also, were I to buy, say, a 2G stick, how long could the average cam record on the highest resolution...30 minutes or so? That's about all I would need at one time.

I bought a Canon Elura 4 months ago before the bambino was born and I've allowed him to grow 3 months without getting any footage, so I need to make a move on either tape or memory sticks. :)

if it's digital, the tape most likely uses lower compression because there is far more available space. in which case tape would have the better quality.

Unless you buy an HD camcorder, Mini DV (tape) quality records more lines than mini DVD and hard disk based camcorders.

Thanks. Yea, I got the mini DV tape variety. I'll have to play with the video-in on the graphic card and see if I can get it going...thought the stick would be easiest, but if the tape has better quaility, I'll go that route.
