Forums work pretty well in a mobile browser now.
I only fire up tapatalk when I want to post a picture.

"Mobile" everything sucks. I use a browser, and force the full site *everywhere. I don't want a 100 different programs that render html. That's what a browser's for.

*The one exception is I use redreader for reddit, That site sucks so bad with the default view that anything is an improvement, and I don't want to use heavy js modifications(RedditEnhancementSuite) on my phone.

Constantly zooming in and out and moving the screen around can get annoying, but it's way better than dealing with the limited feature set most sites give you with their mobile versions, which basically never match up with the functionality I find useful...

Just remember, if you use Tapatalk, in AT, you need to disable the signature that says "Sent by ... using Tapatalk." That is considered as spam in AT forums. Repeated use can earn an infraction for spamming.

Mobile forums for AT work very well, I don't see a use for a special application.

I hate that the forum software suggests the Tapatalk app....I can't stand having that stuff hijack my browser sessions.
