So I posted here a month ago about trying this, and I received some useful information.

I've been doing a lot of reading on the net. A lot of it was crap -- "Did you know that without sunlight, all life on earth would cease to exist?" No sh*t, sherlock.

I did however come across some interesting things that I hadn't thought about -- eye protection, "indoor" sun screen...

Do most places sell these two items in the store or should I buy them before hand?

Also, do most tanning places have a hands off sort of approach? I.e. you walk in, say 10 minutes on bed-o-tanning-one please and that's it? Or do they recommend things? Do they show you how to operate them? (Or is it a simple on/off/timer process?)

I used to tan about 10 years ago and gave it up. My father kept at it until he got himself a nice melonoma spot on his back and now he's got a nice scar to show for it. This had to be caused by the tanning bed because he's not out in the sun much (golfing) without his shirt and this skin cancer was right in an area on his shoulder blade that gets pressed right up against the tanning machine glass.

He was lucky that my mom noticed the irregular skin lesion and he had it taken care of before it spread through his body.

Anyway.. To answer your questions..

The tanning places do offer those little eye protectors to use for your eye's and they do sell tanning lotion.

I would be worried about such things if I planned to make a habit of it, but I don't.

its like asking for cancer, why bother:p even baywatch actresses admit to using tanning lotions instead of actually tanning:p

i think consumer report recently did a comparison between the brands, you can find it at the library.

its better then aging your skin for no reason:p come on...., whites good:p

i so don't get tanning:p

Well yes except that the tanning lotions don't last very long, don't look real, streak, etc. and probably end up spending more buying them all the time lol.

None the less reapplying it all the time is annoying to say the least.

Don't go to a salo, just come here to south texas, you ass will sizzle, burn, then fry in less than 10 minutes.

I don't want to be dark, I just want a decent way to maintain a fair tan for a fair skinned guy.
