Tank pics to compliment the APFSDS thread

Awesome pics!!!! I like tanks. It's hard to believe that you can actually get one stuck. It's amazing what those things can go over/thru. 😀

When I was stationed in Germany I was a Forward Observer. So we had some pretty good optical set ups.
NATO units would come to the tank range and have a competition. They drive down a course and have to engage pop up targets (ultimate pop up blocker?) as they traveled. We would watch thru our lenses and score for them. They were all good tanks but the M1 and Leopard really stood out.
We would also do a "combined" live fire exercise. There were three staging areas. We'd pull up to the first one and I'd call in artillery fire to soften up the targets. Then the attack helicopters would come in followed by the tanks. It was awesome standing there in my track watching them tear stuff up.
We always traveled at night and it was usually cold. At the railhead we'd stand behind an M1, in it's exhaust, to stay warm.
Ah, the good old days.
😀

Ah yes, the French tank.
I've heard its fitted with a device which when pushed immediately jettisons all guns from the tank and extends a pole with a white flag on it. 😉

Considering the Leopard was M1 are essentially the same configuration except for engines its no suprise those two would perform nearly equal to each other.

They're cool but I've NEVER yet found good interior shots, showing exactly what these crewmen have to sit inside. I'd love to see that in both small and huge tanks.

I provided them. : - o

I needs more!

The nice thing about those tanks, in the middle east, must be having air conditioning while the rest of the guys outside are scorching their asses off!

I've heard the Abrams A/C isnt anything to write home about. Helluva lot better then outside of course, but its not the coolest thing either. I've heard the Merk's have far better A/C and crew protection.
Always a sacrafice in tank designs.
