kind of like, going to a car forum and asking how to overclock a pc. they'll call u a big loser and tell u to eat a dick

Heh you best speak for yourself, there's a large amount of folk on this particular forum that are accomplished mechanics & car/bike nuts...

In general I would postulate there will be minimal interest in modding Yarises... it's a cheap econobox that makes less power than 600cc sport bikes.

This.

You've really got to stop making half-assed assumptions about everyone Louis.

He's still stinging from all the hate that poured down on his POS riced out Accord.

Edit - This is the thread I was referring to.

However, I'm seeing a theme emerge:

yo dude, i love accords, but that looks like shit.

you're going to get lots of shit here just because the members in AT all drive their car's bone stock and dont really do much more than nothing to their cars.

and

i only feel ATers love bone stock cars because of their attitude towards addind mods to it. would u hate on a member who's had an infinity basslink sub, a cold air intake, etc? they sure hated on me for it.

ATers have nothing against car modding. Most of us in the garage forum here have modified our cars quite a bit, though you wouldn't know because we don't consider things like neon paint and graphics, HIDs, stereo systems, ipod adapters, and 22" wheels "mods". The majority of real car mods aren't "seen" by everybody, which is a negative detraction for 99% of people who seek to "mod" their cars.

This being a PC forum, where "mods" for 99% of people are considered to be carving and cutting your "gamer" alien face case and installing two dozen LED fans, glow in the dark SATA cables, and 15 blue LCDs on your keyboard on your Pentium 4-1.6 with onboard video. These things would be considered rice on a PC (regardless if the components are top of the line). But when you apply that same mentality to a car... ./facepalm.

Contrast with things like spending the money on actual hardware like CPU/GPU first, overclocking, water cooling, or tasteful mods that cleanly and professionally modify the case for fitment of aftermarket coolers, fix known problems from the manufacturer, add functionality, or JUST ENOUGH blue LEDS used sparingly (eg: two for the power and HDD lights) to accentuate the polished edges of the bare aluminum of the case. eg: mods that are tasteful or enhance performance or functionality or fix a flaw.

What we see a a lot in the garage are PC enthusiasts who have "modded" their PCs for years with LED fans, then come to garage as car newbies with zero car sense wanting to know how to do the same thing to mutilate their poor brand new car. Just take that itch out on your PC and enjoy your shiny new car for a little bit. In time you will know what you should or shouldn't do with it.

Even something like wheels and an exhaust on a Yaris might be considered rice by some, as someone buying a Yaris isn't/wasn't in the market for performance or style in the first place. Scions were at least marketed with the young aspiring "modder" in mind. But a Yaris... not so much.

That said, to each their own. It's your car/PC, do what you want with it.

So, this whole thing was about me being chosen to participate in a Tanabe R&D session. Went last week and they tested a couple of things on my car:

DF210 lowering springs
NF210 lowering springs
Sustec coilovers
Sustec front tower bar
Medalion Touring exhaust
Medalion Concept G exhaust

Before they started they asked me which parts I preferred and they would test those last so they could leave them on my car. I knew the coilovers needed some adjustment / tuning to fit my car properly otherwise I would have told them I preferred those to the other two springs.

So, these are what I got to keep:

NF210s
front tower bar
Medalion Touring exhaust

Here are some pics. of the R&D session:

Got some new wheels today. Got three flat tires the other night down near work where they were doing road work. Had to drive it down the road a little bit and then out the garage later that day so a tow truck could pick it up. The stock wheels were all dented from driving the flat tires around.

Instead of paying to try repairing the wheels, I got some new, cheap ones instead:

I wanted flat black, but all they had was glossy black for these specific wheels and the price was pretty good vs. the ones that did come in flat black.
