After watching Lost in Translation and Inedible Delicacies, I try to pick something that's funny, deals with food and Japan.

This is a really interesting film. It's about making the perfect ramen (not instant). With various short scenes in between. You guys would like the part that involves a gangster with his lover using food in the bed room. Or trying to get your wife to cook the last meal before she dies.
 
I remember seeing that in early 90's 😀 Try ......... Shall We Dance (They are making a new one with RIchard Gere in it but the original Japanese is good 😀 )

Also "Brother" (gangster movie with Beat Takeshi).

Speaking of Beat ......... he is making a remake of the Zatouichi movie (Blind Swordsman). Trailer looks cool.

I remember a movie I watched (Korean I think) that had this woman cook whose neighbor requested that the cook kill her and make a meal out of her. They made love and then she killed her and made a meal out of her. Kinda weird. Nothing very graphic at all, just some blood stains in the sink, but still weird.

Great movie, my anthropology professor/mentor considers it required viewing material for a few of his classes.
