Tampa Traffic

Freakin 2-lane I-75 through New Tampa and all the way until you hit I-4 is unbelievable. Coming from Brooksville, traffic is a TOTAL B!TCH in the morning. They need to make it at least 3.

by 2 lane you mean 4 and by 3 you mean 6.

Correct, none of that changes the fact that from SR 56 well past I-4 and into Brandon, traffic does NOT MOVE, all because of freakin Bruce B Downs.

Nothing compared to DC.

True, but Tampa is nowhere near the size of DC, we shouldn't be having mondo traffic problems like this. Trips that used to take 45 minutes 2-3 years ago take 75 minutes + now.

We have eight lanes (each way) of I-75 and we still get bumper-to-bumper traffic. Quit complaining.

A 3rd lane would fix a lot of problems here.

Atlanta Metro = 5 million people
Tampa Bay Area = 2.5 million people

If you just want to go by numbers, we should have half as many lanes as you guys, we have 1/4.

I'm pretty sure this weak rant was suppose to be about the 405 in Los Angeles.

They've been "fixing" this one for 2-3 years now.

Just be glad you're not in upper Pinellas county, where they have an imitation highway called US 19.

I had to deal with US 19 and Alt US 19 in Pinellas yesterday for my SAT (I live in Spring Hill, none of the Pasco county test centers were availible, so instead of giving me one of the farther yet easier and faster to get to Tampa test centers, like USF, it put me in fscking Tarpon Springs) and it was a major pain in the ass, considering my ass was already sore from taking a 4 hour test. I feel your pain. You're talking about where it becomes freeway-esque with exits and stuff right?

I remember.

Have they fixed the crosstown yet--I was there about the time one section of it collapsed about two years ago.

I do remember when it collapsed, I think they just finished fixing that this summer, I know they just opened reversible lanes.

People are much nicer and, frankly, better drivers in LA compared to Tampa. Hardly anyone is from Tampa, so they bring whatever driving habits with them, the mixture makes driving very frustrating. No one will help you if you have OOS license plates. Atlanta is heavy traffic that moves very fast. Always freaked me out people driving >10MPH over the speed limit in the slow lane coming up on police with radar going, fast lane would go faster and not slow down. I've been to Chicago, but haven't had the pleasure of that stretch of road during rush hour, and my LA experience was on #5 not #1. Plus I lived right by the 275 & 75 interchange in Tampa, so I was subjected to it a lot more and perhaps biased.

Now SR-56 and BBD make that interchange 10x as bad as it was a couple of years ago.

Minneapolis/St. Paul, I-94 sucks terribly.

Maple Grove area sucks on I-94.

169 sucks too.

There was this one time when a women... jumped off from a very high platform, her remains scattered all over the highway, it backed up traffic from Mpls to STP, way back to the suburbs. I was like, good freak... I didn't witness the incident, but I was driving through that terrible traffic, -and was late to work -but being late to work could not compare to the drivers seeing that women jump off of a platform onto traffic.

Well, here's to another traffic filled day. I can see a nice parking lot gallery tomorrow morning near Bruce B Downs, see all you Tampons there!
