Taming the Spaghetti Beast ? Sleeving Made Easy

As many here know by now, I am very hardcore when it comes to sleeving the wiring in my rigs. The various pictures of my deeds have been posted here and here and many people have sent me PM's asking me specific questions about the intricacies of sleeving wires. To that end, I have created an 11 page step-by-step guide, complete with 47 full-size pictures and two short video clips of how to sleeve, heatshrink and maintain your molex connectors and wires.

Interested? You can read the full guide here, and if you have any suggestions, comments or questions, I encourage you to visit the official thread about it, or peruse the forums for anything else that strikes your fancy.

Good article. If the parts are cheap enough, maybe I'll pick up some supplies and start modding my own cables. =)

Meh. My PSU was already sleeved. Then I just use zip ties and it looks just as good.

You should use black zip ties intead of the white!

I've been looking for something like for a while; the inside of my case would
scare Madusa! Thanks for taking the time to help us out!

Those aren't zipties. Those are called purse clips, which only come in black, otherwise I would have used them in that color. You can purchase purse clips HERE.

Good effort and TY for sharing it.
As a mobil heavy equipment mechanic I've used shrink and sleeving of many types over
a couple decades. My favorite was heat shrink with solder and flux inside. This was about
the best butt connectors I ever used for small ga.wiring.

Jab-Tech has a rachet crimper for Molex pins<$20, made in Taiwan, very good tool.

Action-Electronics sells genuine Molex pins for $8 per 100, the smaller pins are cheaper.
The small genuine Molex pins will not fit in after market shells, only the slightly larger three
pin Molex shells. The pins are of thicker material and have a stronger clamping action on the
male pins.
I buy genuine 3-M black sleeving and heat shrink from Action-Electronics. It's the best I've
ever used.

...Galvanized

Harbor Freight has a decent cheap heat gun on sale often at <$10. Hair dryers use too much
air for good controll.

That is very true.

Thanks to everyone for your positive reviews on the guide. It makes the 18 hours that I worked on the guide that much better! As far as the PDF goes, I'll see what I can do, however, I don't have any way to create Adobe documents, only read them. =(

Put it in an MS Word doc and send it to me, I'll package it up for you 🙂
