It seemed like a reasonable request. I'd like a machine that offers a choice of announcements. Press one to hear this, press two to hear that, or leave a message after the beep. Am I asking too much? I don't want to use a PC and voice modem to do this, just a stand alone digital answering system.

Has anybody ever heard of one like this? I don't even care if it's a hot deal, I'd just like to find one, locally if possible.

Thank You, Please Leave A Message...

Good luck in finding such a product.

I've used American Voice Mail for several years and have been very happy with them. In the long run it's cheaper to buy a hardware solution (a really spiffy answering machine) but this is an option to consider. What I like is after someone leaves me a voice mail message, my cell phone is called to notify me.

American Voice Mail has it all, but I'd like to get the machine, if possible. I'd even dedicate a PC and voice modem if that's the only way, but I haven't had much luck with those in the past. I did run across this:

Voice 2000S Inc. 56 Minutes All Digital Telephone Answering Machine
  • 56 minutes of recording time
  • 5 voice mailboxes (4 private, with password option)
  • 4 outgoing announcements (3 with Timer Control feature)
  • Room monitoring, plus extensive remote control functions
All that for $19.88? Naturally it's out of stock. Sounds too good to be true anyway...

Damn that sounds way too good to be true. Wish they were in stock I'd order one. I've installed a multi-functional printer which can receive faxes. So now I need an answering machine.

A VERY good friend just emailed a link to an "Epinion" of the AT&T 1725. It's got it all, but I gotta find a source for it...

...Staples has the AT&T 1726, for $46.55 and Dell has it for $37.99. I'm going to pick one up at Staples on the way home. They'll be matching Dell's price if I can help it. Even if they don't, I'll get it there.

Thanks. I think I'll buy it with some "free after rebate" software using a $30 off $150 coupon, free shipping, knocks it down to about $16.55

$16.55 is awesome! :Q

I just ordered from Staples with $5.00 worth of paper. Had a $10.00 off $20.00 coupon, so I'll have it here by Friday for $41.54. That's cool, cause I don't have time to stop at Staples. I gotta pick up some kind of Valentine's Day Gift! ;)

<< Holy shiznit! Kmart has the damn thing for $32.99! :frown:

How do I get Staples to price match that now?
>>

Wow that's an even better price, might get it from there instead.

Staples has changed their policy, they no longer allow PM and coupon on the same order. Although some people have been successful (if you get a dumb CSR).

Well, this whole transaction has become a learning experience! The 1726 does not have the same features as the 1725. I returned it to Staples today and replaced it with the AT&T 1782 2-Line Digital Answering System with Caller ID/Call Waiting. It still doesn't have the feature I wanted, but it's pretty nice.

When I returned the 1726, they were only going to give me $29.00 for it, because that's the B&M price for it! I had to have them go online to see that I had paid $46.55 for it! Sheesh.

Then it turns out that they only charged me $29.00 for the 1782, since that's the B&M price for it too! They're getting stinky about accepting coupons at the B&Ms, but the prices are cheaper already. The Web prices seem to be higher to compensate for coupon usage and shipping.

Damn that looks even nicer, now I just need to find something for $60 which has a rebate then use a $20 off $100.

If you actually need a machine at all, that 1782 is easily worth $29.00 even if you can't get a coupon and what not.

It can announce the number of the caller before you get up to see who it is. You can even record a name and assign it to the number. I can record a particular message for family and friends, and let all others get a generic message. It can hang up on unknown and private callers after telling them why. 2 line caller ID and call waiting too. Quite a bargain for $29.00! Don't tell me you're planning to buy it online with a coupon for $46.00, then return it to the B&M? I didn't do that on purpose!

It just concerns me about Staple's online pricing now. I'll have to call the B&M every time I want to order from there, just to make sure I have the lowest price.

I totally agree that it's worth the $29 B&M price, esp since I do need an answering machine. Don't worry I totally intend on buying mine at a local B&M instead of online.

Oh yeah and Staples is suck and they're watching!
