This is the ‘America First’ case for supporting Ukraine

Here's your handy cheat sheet. Sharpie it onto your wrist, and the next time you're celebrating a summer holiday with Uncle Stupid and Aunt Ignoramus, remind them that the Guac they're scarfing down is Mexican and . . . have at 'em!

1. Russian victory would embolden our enemies

2. A Ukrainian victory will help deter China

3. Defeating Putin would weaken the Sino-Russian partnership

4. Support for Ukraine will restore the Reagan Doctrine

5. Victory will save the U.S. billions

6. A proving ground for new weapons

7. Arming Ukraine is revitalizing our defense industrial base

8. The Russian invasion has strengthened U.S. alliances

Terrifying, isn't it? What used to be moderately conservative is now "liberal" and what calls itself "conservative" is now totalitarian, boot licking fascist with a dash of anti-war (even for self defense), crystal worshipping hippy thrown in.

John Bolton said Putin was waiting for Trump to withdraw the United States from NATO in his second term. He previously warned that Trump would have withdrawn from the alliance if he'd won a 2nd term. And he still most likely would if he wins again. Bolton also said Trump's "main interest" in Ukraine was trying to find Hillary Clinton's computer server.

He is STILL claiming to this day, when talking on Hannity's town hall that he would not defend NATO allies against Russia if they were not “paid up.” And claimed after his "alpha maleness" extortion, protection racket word salad meeting that "billions and billions of dollars poured in"(Obviously, a complete lie.) Then ....The FOX town hall hand-picked cult audience cheered wildly.

This is music to Putin's ears. He will do whatever he can to get Trump elected again.

Nikita Khrushchev could have never dreamed that a former President would be such a valuable Russian asset one day.

A lot of this rested on the assumption that Russia was a fearsome competent military power, which mostly everybody agreed on to one degree or another.

Another Trump presidency would help Putin way less now than before the invasion because European attitudes are fundamentally different and they're eagerly arming Ukraine. They've taken the economic hit so there really isn't anything else Putin can do to them. Any attack on the EU even without the US to back them would be absolutely catastrophic for the Russians at this point given their vastly degraded capabilities.

I get that Trump is an idiot but I don't understand how he can not understand how NATO works and that there isn't a NATO "army" that everyone jointly funds!

You under estimate his stupidity. When multiple people, including former teachers, advisors, and heads of state say the guy is an idiot, believe them. Trump is only intelligent when it comes to manipulating people and I’d probably even call him a genius at it. You don’t have to be smart when you can manipulate smart people to do things for you.
